Buckle up cuz Brooklyn's The Royal They are already kicking down the door with their sophomore LP 'Foreign Being' and it's a monster of soaring vocal mania, off-kilter riffage, and more hooks than a tackle box.

lyrics
We're almost 30 years old
And we have no more insights
Than we had when we were 15
I worry we've both taken
The path of least resistance
It's a lot easier to dream
Than to do something worthwhile
Why are we always arguing
About the stupid shit we
Should have figured out by now?
That we want the same fucking things
Doesn't mean we deserve them
Does that make me the villain?
Does that make you a victim?
Just cause you say it isn't so
It doesn't make it go away
You are what you're inclined to
You're not a writer, not a saint
You can't be right all of the time
Just cause you feel a certain way
It doesn't make it OK
I'm still listening
If you have anything to say
I'm still listening...
I'm angry all the fucking time
But I'm far from the only one
There's always something on your mind
How is it every time you spill
It's always someone else's fault?
Are you living against your will
Or are you missing the point?
I'm still listening
If you have anything to say
I'm still listening
If you have anything to say
I'm still listening...
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
